Nissan Primera Or Toyota Avensis - Which One Is Better

Nissan primera is classified as a large family car that was made for the Japanese and European markets. In North America it was introduced as an entry level sports car.  In 1990, United Kingdom’s bluebird was replaced with primera with 1.8-litre and 2.0-litre injection gasoline engines and five–speed manual gearbox. It was introduced in four to five door saloon body styles. It was also available in body style of station wagon. In United States, the Japanese made primera was renamed as the Infiniti G20.

 

P10 (1990–1995) FIRST GENERATION OF NISSAN PRIMERA

At the beginning primera was available in six models L, LS, SLX, GS, GSX and ZX.  L, LS and SLX were available in 1.6-litre engine. LS, GS, GSX and ZX model were available in 2.0-litre engine. A 2.0-litre diesel version was available from 1992. L was categorized as basic cars, lx was a slightly posh car, had the option of both petrol and diesel. SLX was the mid-range model, SGX was a luxury model loaded with all luxury features. The eGT was the sports model.


P11 (1995–2002) SECOND GENERATION OF NISSAN PRIMERA

Nissan launched its second generation in late 1995 in Japan. It had a unique design with multi-link front suspension and multi-link rear suspension. In Japan the Primera was available as a sedan with the SR18DE, SR20DE and SR20VE engines. In United Kingdom it was available as a hatchback with the SR20DE engine and automatic transmission. Together with the Nissan primera, the Nissan Primera Camino was introduced with a CVT automatic transmission for a P11 series.
Nissan prolonged selling the Primera in the United States under Infiniti G20 until 2002. In 1998 Primera achieved title of winning the British Touring Car Championship. In 1998, Nissan UK introduced a limited edition of 400 GTSE Models, with alloy wheels, the interior having full leather seating steering wheel and a Momo gear knob.

 

P12 (2002–2008) THIRD GENERATION OF NISSAN PRIMERA

In December 2001, the third-generation Nissan Primera was introduced. This one was the more modified car than the last versions. Primera produced in New Zealand Primera were all equipped with continuously variable transmission with no manual option whereas the CVT is also available in the European and the Japanese Nissan primera. As a result of fall in sales of Nissan primera available in RHD, United Kingdom started producing in the LHD, in Japan the production of RHD Primera was stopped by 2008.

 

TOYOTA AVENSIS

Toyota Avensis is also a large family car. It was produced in England. It was introduced as a four-door saloon, five-door lift back and estate. It is not for sale in North America. Toyota introduced Toyota Avensis to suggest a more modern name for Toyota, than Toyota Carina E/Toyota Corona.


FIRST GENERATION OF TOYOTA AVENSIS

Toyota Avensis was introduced towards the end of the 1997. It had a similar engine as a Toyota carina had but the interior and exterior were modified with a totally different style. It was available in three body styles saloon, estate and hatchback. All of these models had roomy comfortable interior, greater level of reliability, solid body with smooth and a quiet ride. The Avensis was modified in mid-2000. Variable valve timing and satellite navigation were included as a standard feature.


SECOND GENERATION OF TOYOTA AVENSIS

In 2003, Toyota introduced second generation with an all new design. The visual appeal was very high. In 2004 the Avensis got fourth position in the European Car of the Year contest. It was also awarded as the “best family car” in the year 2004 and 2005. After Toyota Camry in 2004, Avensis was the largest sold Toyota saloon in Europe. In the UK there are seven models available namely T2, T3-S, T3-X, T4, T Spirit, T180 and the T along with  is also a special edition, based on the T2 also known as Color Collection. In Ireland there were five models available – Terra, Strata, Aura, Luna, and Sol. In 2003, the Avensis was the first Japanese vehicle to be a five star rated. And the 2003 Avensis was the vehicle with a knee airbag that was sold in Europe. The second generation was sold in Egypt and Morocco as well. From 2005, the 2.4L version was available with 5 speed automatic transmission.


THIRD GENERATION OF TOYOTA AVENSIS

Third generation was introduced at the 2008 Paris Motor Show. The third generation was available in two body styles: sedan and station wagon. Major options included HID headlamps, adaptive cruise control and Adaptive Front-lighting System (AFS).For safety measures features like   Lane Keeping Assist( LKA), Lane Departure Warning (LDW), Pre-Collision System (PCS), Vehicle Stability Control
