1973–1979

The very first Mitsubishi Lancer was introduced in 1973. It was made available in four body styles. The sedans were available in two or four doors, a two-door coupe and a five-door station wagon. 1979–1987

A new Lancer EX was released in Japan. It was made available with only two engines a 1.4-liter engine furnished with MCA-JET combined with Mitsubishi Silent Shaft Technology and 1.6-liter engine. The MCA is an acronym for Mitsubishi Clean Air meaning Lancer EX had cleared emission standards of both US and Japan. With all the enhancements, the Silent Shaft Technology was one more step towards the advancement. This helped in minimizing the vibration and engine noise offering a very swift and smooth driving experience. The 1.8-liter Sirius was the engine that was introduced to the Mitsubishi Lancer and after a year a 1.2 L engine got introduced giving the lancer a wider range of engines. The first production of 1800GSR and GT was offered with a turbocharged. However, later in 1983, an intercooler was used. In New Zealand, the car was assembled by the Todd Motors with modifications based on the 1.6-litre carburetor petrol engine and an alternative of manual or automatic transmission was given. This model successfully replaced Tredia in 1982 In Europe the lancer was known as the Lancer EX 2000 Turbo and was available with the turbocharged 2.0-liter engine. The model hah electronic fuel injection as one of the enhancements.

 

2007–PRESENT

There were two models released in 2005 by the Mitsubishi. Concept-X model was launched at the Tokyo Motor Show and the Concept-Sportback model was launched at the Frankfurt Motor Show. In 2007 the new Mitsubishi Lancer was released officially and initiated the sale in 2007 in the regions of North America as 2008 mode.
