The BMW 7 SERIES - The Real Luxury

The BMW 7 Series is based on full-size luxury vehicle designed by the German automaker BMW. Released in 1977, it is BMW’s best set of vehicles only offered in a sedan body style or an extended-length limousine.


E23 (1977-1986)

The BMW E3 car was replaced by the first BMW E32 from the 7 series luxury car in 1986, manufactured by the German automaker BMW. It continued to be produced for about ten years.


E32 (1986-1994)

The BMW E32 is known as the second generation 7- series. It was made available with numerous luxury options such as double glazing, wine cooler, traction control system, fax and telephone. It was the very first car in the world that was made available with High-Intensity Discharge headlamps. It had the same engine as of the last generation based on all six-cylinder petrol. In 1987 a V12 engine was used and further in 1992, a V8 engine was included to the 730i and 740i. It also launched the extended wheelbase model offering more rear leg room when compared with the standard 7- Series.


E38 (1994–2001)

The third generation of BMW 7 series was manufactured during 1994-2001. For the very first time it was offered with diesel engine and with an option of a five-speed automatic transmission. It was the first European car that was available with an integrated satellite navigation screen. For the U.S. market two engine options were offered such as a 4.0l V8 and a V12 option. The BMW’s sedan car was also appeared in the 1997 film “Tomorrow never dies”. BMWs E38 735i was appeared in the 2002 film “The transporter”.


E65/E66/E67/E68 (2001-2008)

The fourth generation E65 7-Series was manufactured during 2001 to 2008 that were introduced as 2002-2008 models. The hydrogen 7 was the first manufacture of BMW that was powered by hydrogen.


E65 denoted the standard-wheelbase model, E66 denoted the long-wheelbase model, E67 denoted the high-security model and E68 denoted the Hydrogen 7.
The BMW 2002 to 2005 models was made available with a 4.4L V8 engine, the 2006-2008 model had a more powerful engine 6.0L V12.


F01/ F02 (2008)   

In this generation the BMW switch the nomenclature from E to F01. The sale of the fifth generation BMW initiated in 2008. The F01 and F02 were the first from the 7 Series that were offered with all-wheel drive and 8-speed automatic transmission. This generation was the first to have all the turbo charged engines other than the ones manufactured for the Thailand market. For maximizing the efficiency and power, all the twin turbocharged engines were used. The ActiveHybrid7 was the first 7-series to have an electric motor installed.


The 2015 BMW 7 Series

The 2015 BMW 7 Series is offered in three models 740, 750 and 760 along with Active Hybrid 7 and the Alpina B7. All 2015 BMW 7 Series models are offered with top notch safety features to ensure the safety of the consumers. It includes the BMW Assist emergency communications system, traction and stability control, antilock brakes and airbags as the standard features.
