A Honda station wagon stands for reliability and spaciousness. Since the station wagon Honda Accord Tourer is one of the best-selling cars in the world, it is often used as a cheap one. The five-door mid-range station wagon is often underestimated, even if it can compete with models with higher class.
It is therefore primarily aimed at buyers who place less emphasis on branding. The smaller Honda Civic Tourer, on the other hand, impresses with its futuristic design and is thus particularly convincing by younger car buyers.
Honda Accord
The Honda Accord is the most successful model of the Japanese brand and has been produced since 1976. However, it has only been available since the fourth generation, which has been on the market since 1989, as a station wagon, under the name Accord Aerodeck. Not only in Asia and Europe, but also in the USA, the car developed into a popular family car. The smaller Honda Civic, which has enriched the compact class since 1972, has been offered intermittently since 1980 as a combination.
Facelift
Because of the good sales figures of the Honda Accord station wagon, the fifth generation appeared in 1993, which differed only slightly from their predecessor. With the sixth generation presented in 1997, the name changed to Accord Wagon. With the seventh generation built between 2002 and 2008, Honda made its high claim clear and became a serious rival in the middle class.
A facelift of 2006 produced only a few optical changes. The current model generation, which is sold under the name Accord Tourer, was presented at the Geneva Autosalon 2008 and came to the European market in September of the same year. It is not only longer and wider, but also higher than its predecessor and therefore has a much larger space offer.
The Changes
In the course of the model maintenance followed in 2011 a facelift, in which purely optical headlights, bumper and radiator grill were designed more angular. In addition, the Honda Accord Tourer has an improved suspension and the noise in the interior has been reduced. The fourth generation of the Civic station wagon was called Shuttle and was available from 1987 with permanent all-wheel drive.
Powerful Engine & Upscale Equipment
Two powerful petrol engines intakes manifold injection in the Honda Accord Tourer. The 2.0 i-VTEC R4 delivers 156 hp and is very economical. The 2.4 i-VTEC R4 with 201 hp is sportier. As a diesel, the powerful 2.2 i-DTEC with 150 hp and the sparkling 2.2 i-DTEC with 180 hp are the choice.
