The Nissan Tiida is categorized as a small automobile manufactured by the Japanese automaker Nissan since 2004.
The first generation tiida specifically produced between 2004 and 2012, is known as C11. It was available in a four door sedan and a five-door hatchback body style.
In Southeast Asia it was known as Nissan Latio offered in sedan only, in South America it was sold as Dodge Trazo and in North America it was sold as Nissan Versa.
Nissan introduced the second generation of the Nissan Tiida; it was available in a five-door hatchback style that was codenamed as C12 in the local Chinese market. In 2003, Nissan released a C-Note that was displayed to give a preview of the styling of the future Nissan Tiida (C11). It was available in a hatchback body style and had its basis the platform of Renault Megane.

The exterior had a new front bumper, taillights, rear bumper, a new grille, headlamps and new wheel covers while the interior had a more modern look with a better usability and visibility with metallic-finish dash panels and instrument cluster design.
The Toyota Yaris is categorized as a subcompact car that was manufactured by the Toyota since 1999. During 1999 and 2005, the same car was offered with the name as the Toyota echo in some markets. The first generation of Toyota Yaris was projected as Yaris and echo depending on the market. It was promoted between 1999 and 2005 as hatchback, sedan and coupe. The hatchback model was inspired by the Toyota Vitz from the Japanese market and the coupe and sedan was inspired by the Japanese-market Toyota Platz.

The third generation models were advertized as Yaris since 2011 all around the world. Initially available in a hatchback body style, it was also released in a sedan body style in 2013. The third generation hatchback model was inspired by the Japanese-market Toyota Vitz that was released in 2011. And the Sedan models were inspired by the Toyota Vios from the Asian market that was released in the 2013. In the same year, a very exclusive version of the Yaris was released in Asian markets such as Malaysia, Indonesia, Thailand, China, Taiwan and Vietnam. In Indonesia, the Yaris was offered in three different models such as E, G and TRD Sportive.
