The Mercedes-Benz E300 was at first introduced as a sedan offered with a petrol engine as well as a diesel engine in two different engine choices. The base diesel engine had more than 100 kW (136 hp) from 1993 to 1995.
The Mercedes-Benz E300 was the only car at that time with diesel engine that could order with an all-wheel drive. As a petrol engine, the E300 was offered to the market from 1993 to 1995 completely as four-wheel drive along with 132 kW (180 hp).
The model was built as a station wagon and as a sedan in the first generation. The coupe and convertible version of the car was based on thE300 model which was introduced in 1993 equipped with E220 Mercedes-Benz engine.
The E300 as a Sedan and Station Wagon
In the following generation of the E-Class, which was offered for the first time in 1995 in the market, at that time there was a turbo diesel engine only in the Mercedes-Benz E300 top version. With the increased to 130 kW (177 hp) in power unit, this version was available from 1997 till 1999 as a sedan as well as a station wagon.
The Mercedes-Benz E300 as Bluetec Diesel
In the production of 2002 to onwards in the E-Class, the Mercedes-Benz E300 was started to produced again in the upper middle class. Starting in 2008, the model was the first car in the new series to install with the Bluetec technology, which was then used as BlueEfficiency technology by many brands in many models from 2009 onwards. It was one of the pioneering technologies and Mercedes E-class was the pioneer of this technology.
Other amazing technology used in the model was aerodynamic modification, weight reducing materials in the body with optimized engine which was design to reduce the fuel consumption and better CO2 emissions.
The Bluetech model of the Mercedes-Benz E300 was available as a diesel along with a 155 kW (211 hp) common rail unit, gives up to 244 km / h and intake the average fuel consumption of 7.3 liters of diesel.
