Mercedes Atego OR Man Tgl - Which Truck Is Better, Tougher And More Capable?

Introduction of Both Model

The Mercedes-Benz Atego is a Daimler AG truck series that was introduced in 1998 as the successor to the Mercedes-Benz LN series. Until 2001, the Mercedes-Benz Atego was also produced as a medium-weight truck until this model division was taken over by the new Mercedes-Benz Axor series.

Initially, MAN produced only medium and heavy trucks, but the market demanded lighter trucks. In 1967 MAN produced the Saviem, from 1977 in cooperation with VW the G90, and from 1993 with Steyr the L-series. Since 2005, MAN has the TGL, a light truck with a total weight of 7.5 to 12 tons, in the program.

Atego

In the current model series, the Mercedes-Benz Atego truck, offers in various models for delivery and as a commercial vehicle with various applications, with a gross vehicle weight of between 6.5 and 15 tonnes is in use and is produced as a box body, towing vehicle, crane truck or panel van.

TGL

With its sturdy chassis and high load capacity, the TGL provides a light truck for crafts and trades for many tasks and purposes. It is available both as a solo car and as a tractor. The short wheelbase gives the truck a high maneuverability, the powerful 4-cylinder and 6-cylinder engines are available with a power range from 150 hp (110 kW) to 250 hp (184 kW).

All engines, apart from the 150 hp engine, are equipped with a two-stage supercharger. The engines develop their full torque even at low engine speeds and the kick-down function ensures the necessary deduction.

Engine Specification

The engine range of the Mercedes-Benz Atego is wide-ranging. The straight-six and inline four-cylinder engines of the Mercedes-Benz Atego series have a displacement of 4.3 - 6, 4 liters and serve a performance range of 130 - 285 hp and can thus flexibly meet every requirement.

Since the 2006 model year, the Mercedes-Benz Atego engines have also met the requirements of the EURO5 emissions standard. The Mercedes-Benz Atego is also available for long-distance transport with a special, more comfortable drivers cab and includes overnight accommodation for the driver.

MAN TGL

The "Truck of the Year 2006" MAN TGL is equipped with a common-rail diesel engine and the MAN TipMatic transmission. The engines are available with both Euronorm 5 and the much stricter EEV emissions standard. Together with ESP, the MAN BrakeMatic ensures that the truck can be braked and steered well even in difficult situations.

The economical common-rail diesel with lambda-controlled, cooled exhaust gas recirculation contributes in combination with the oxidation catalyst without the addition of additives (AdBlue) to a high environmental compatibility.
