Hummer is known as a brand name of SUVs and trucks. It was advertised in 1992, after AM General started marketing a civilian model of M998 Humvee. In 1998, the brand name was sold to the General Motors and introduced Hummer H1, H2 and H3.
HUMMER H1
Hummer H1 is the first vehicle offered by Hummer range. It was introduced in 1992, based on the Humvee. Its design was approved by American Motors.
HUMMER H2
The Hummer H2 was presented in 2003 in collaboration by the General Motors and Hummer. The attempt was made with a practical approach to design a vehicle for military purposes. The best feature about Hummer is it can be easily modified with dealer accessories and factory options. It is categorized as an SUV and SUT with the body of a huge truck but slender than the Hummer H1. Also it is lengthy, light and tall having capacity of accommodating 6 to 7 occupants when compared with H1.
As a Hummer H2 Sports utility truck, the rear part was modified as a pickup truck. The cargo space is six feet long. Hummer H2 was the only one with its brand name HUMMER between the grilles.
With a 6.0-liter V8 combined with a four-speed automatic transmission which got revised in 2008 with V8 and a six-speed automatic transmission.
The advanced feature list includes drive-by-wire throttle and a driver-selectable rear differential locker. The changes that were made in the last years of its production include a navigational system based on a DVD in 2005. The cabin was redesigned with new seats, use of fine material and a refined dash board. In 2009, the choice of captains chairs and third row seating arrangements allowed spacious interior.
In over populated streets the Hummer H2 was a burden in terms of it magnanimous size both width and height wise. It was difficult to park in small parking spots. However the front passenger seats are more comfortable than the rear seats.
HUMMER H3
Hummer H3 was more of a real world vehicle as compared with the Hummer H2. But it had very little interior space and was disappointing when compared with the expectation of a roomy interior from what the huge exterior design propose. The Hummer H3 is categorized as a mid size suv. The engine power was much more improved from the Hummer 2, and then came the Alpha version of Hummer 3 giving a more vigorous performance.
With hummer H3 you can go where ever you want, let it stay on road or dirt, it was a high performance vehicle. For best performance the Off-Road Suspension package is available.
The hummer H3 cabin is designed with a fine quality of material to make it more stylish than the last one. The seats were adjustable to increase the cargo space. However the visibility was hindered with mounted tires and slit style windows. The standard features made available were side curtain airbags, manual transmission hill-start assist, Bluetooth connectivity and Stability control. The optional features list includes front locking differential and the rear view camera.
The Hummer H3 was much more expensive than the Hummer H2.
