The Honda Civic is categorized as a compact car produced by Honda. After many generational changes, the Honda Civic became more extended in size and became part of the affluent sector of the market.
The first Civic was released as in 1972 with a two-door model and a three-door hatchback. Soon it became known for its fuel efficiency, environmental friendly nature and reliability. Latter it was reputed on the basis of sportiness and high performance considering the Civic Gti, Civic Vti, Civic Si and Civic Type R.
In japan, the Civics’ exterior dimensions were not in harmony with the Japanese Government dimension regulations, the production of hybrid and non-hybrid civic ended in 2010, though the production for many export markets remained in process.
The first generation Honda Civic was released in 1972. It was offered as a three and five-door hatchback, a coupe and a five-door station wagon. It had front power disc brakes, a four-cylinder water-cooled engine, wooded trim dashboard and bucket seats. An Am/Fm radio and an air conditioning were offered as optional features.
The second generation Honda Civic was released in 1979. It was wider and better engine power. It also incorporated the technology. The hatchback models were known as Ballads. All the second generations Honda Civic were offered with three options for transmissions. The third generation Honda Civic was released in 1983. The station wagon and hatch back models were combined into the shuttle wagon based on four doors also known as the wagovan. It was also known as the Honda Civic shuttle. A light weight coupe style CRX was also introduced. It was a two seat coupe. In 1984, a new model known as Si was released in the Japanese market.
All the fourth generation U.S. models had electronic fuel injection. An independent rear suspension was introduced in all the offered models. In this generation the Honda CRX remained in production including the models such as HF, DX, and Si in the USA.
The fifth generation Honda civic was redesigned with an aerodynamic styling. In North America the Si had a SOHC VTEC valve train while the VTEC-E was used by the VX.A new Civic Coupe was released adding to the range of body styles offered by the Honda civic. It was based on the Civic Ferio sedan available for sale in Europe, North America and Japan. The sixth generation Honda civic was released as their first Natural Gas charged model. During the production of this generation cars the first Civic SI coupe EM1 was released in 1999 that remained in production till 2000.
The Honda Accord is also categorized as a compact car. It was first released after four years of the production of the Honda Civic. Both these cars of Honda appeared
in different body styles with various different models. These two cars are still in productions for their high performance and reliability.
