The BMW X1 is the smallest Sport Utility Vehicle of the BMW production line. It is a compact SUV with the internal name E84 came in to the market in autumn 2009 with front engine, rear wheel drive and option of front engine mated with front wheel drive and four wheel drive.
Toyota Fortuner is also a Sport Utility Vehicle but a mid-size SUV produced by Toyota. Fortuner is built on the Toyota platform of Hilux pickup truck. The SUV features three comfortable rows of seats as well as available in four-wheel drive or rear wheel drive. The Toyota SUV is a part of the Toyota IMV project in Thailand.
Dimensions
The BMW X1 measures 4.454 meters in length, 1.798 meters in width and 1.545 meters in height. The wheelbase is 2.76 meters. With these dimensions, the BMW X1 competes in a league with the Skoda Yeti or the VW Tiguan. The BMW X1 is offered as an all-wheel drive "xDrive" or with pure rear wheel drive "sDrive".
The five-door wagon is 4.705 meters long; the width of the car is 1.84 meters with the height of 1.85 meters. The wheelbase of the SUV by Toyota is 2.75 meters which is almost similar to the wheelbase of BMW X1.
