The Swedish company Scania is a manufacturer of commercial vehicles, mainly producing trucks. But also the production of marine diesel engines, buses and engines for the industry belong to the portfolio of Sweden. The majority of the company is part of the Volkswagen Group and is the largest producer of trucks in Europe and South America.

The Company History of Scania

The predecessors of Scania go back in 1900 to the merger of two Swedish companies, the companies Vabis and Scania. At the beginning freight cars were manufactured for the Swedish railways, the production of commercial vehicles began at Scania in 1903.

Vabis produced first trucks around 1902 and also engines from 1907 onwards. However, the production of trucks in pre-production was only achieved with the complete merger of both companies to Scania-Vabis. In 1919 Scania-Vabis completely changed its activities to the production of trucks, but went into bankruptcy in 1921 due to lack of demand. It was only when the new company was founded in the same year that the companys name Scania was retained.

First Successes of Scania with Buses and Diesel Trucks

First successes Scania with its omnibuses celebrated in the year 1932, closely followed by front-line trucks which had the first diesel engines. After the Second World War, Scania wants to expand its dealer network.

The very first foreign factory was opened in Brazil in 1962 and another branch in the Netherlands. In Germany it was only by North German freight forwarders on the trucks from Scania attention, since there was no active dealer in the Federal Republic. The reliability of the Scania trucks quickly spread around the federal area, so that the first German branch was founded in 1968. The most sold model at this time was the Scania L 110 Super. Today Scania truck is famous around the world with big hits.

Huge Truck Range

The long tradition in truck manufacturing underscores its commitment to the company philosophy of producing heavy trucks with a weight of 18 tonnes. Scania is only slightly behind the competitors Volvo and DAF in the big sales figures for heavy trucks, but ahead of Iveco and Renault.

There is a huge range of Scania trucks available in the line that includes from light duty trucks, medium duty truck and heavy duty trucks. You can easily find used Scania trucks for sale at pretty affordable prices.
