The Nissan Altima - a 4.82-meter-long sedan is extremely classy and comfortable produced since 1992 which is mainly sold in North America and is a mid-range model of the Japanese car manufacturer Nissan. The hybrid version of the Nissan Altima makes a splash. The design of the Altima is somewhat unspectacular by European standards, thanks to the new Nissan D platform; the body is pretty furnished and elegant. And in the interior prevail at a wheelbase of 2.77 meters of space makes it a luxury sedan. In addition to the innovative hybrid version of Nissan Altima offers two gasoline engines: a 3.5-liter V6 the multi-award-winning VQ-series and a four-cylinder 2.5-liter displacement.

The First Generation of Nissan Altima

The first generation Altima, first officially called Nissan Stanza Altima, was a four-door, 4.60 meter long front-wheel drive sedan, which technically with the Nissan Bluebird was related to U13, possessed but a very own, California in Nissans design studio styled body. It was powered by a 2.4 liter Altima of the large four-cylinder, made of 112 kW / 152 hp and its power transferred via a five-speed manual or a four-speed automatic. The trim levels carried XE, GXE, SE and GLE.

The Nissan Altima L30 – The Second Generation

The Altima technically largely corresponded to the second generation of its predecessor, but had a new, re-designed in California which is 4.70 meters with slightly longer body. For model year 2000, the performance of the new Nissan Altima 2.4-liter 116 kW / 158 PS was raised.

The Third Generation of Nissan Altima

nissan altimaThe third Altima ranked a class above its predecessors. The wheelbase has increased by almost 20 to 280, the length at the same rate to 490 centimeters. It was powered by a 2.5-liter inline four-cylinder (130 kW / 177 hp) or a 3.5-liter V6 that made 149 kW / 243 hp, later up to 194 kW / 264 PS.

Nissan Altima L32 – The Fourth Generation nissan altima

The fourth Altima appeared for the 2006 model year on a new platform. The four and six-cylinder engines were taken over from the predecessor, the V6 made now but 201 kW / 273 PS. Standard was a six-speed manual transmission, replacing the traditional automatic engine. Since 2006, the Altima was offered as a hybrid vehicle with the four-cylinder engine, an electric motor (40hp) and the continuously variable automatic transmission.

Nissan Altima L33 – The Fifth Generation

The fifth Altima launched for the 2013 model year in the summer of 2012 as the Camry, it is available with the four-cylinder engine and the V6 as the top engine. The 2.5-liter 16V DOHC four-cylinder base engine now delivers 136 kW (185 hp) and a torque of 244 Nm. The 3.5-liter 24V DOHC six-cylinder engine remained at 201 kW (273 hp) and 350 Nm. Most mechanical components were taken from the fourth-generation Altima. The styling is evocative of the Nissan maxima. Despite the larger dimensions of the new Altima weighs about 55 kg less. It is the lightest sedan in its class, which is mainly due to the use of aluminum and high-strength steel in the areas of the trunk, the hood and the roof.
