Toyota Voltz is also known as Toyota Matrix. It is categorized as a compact hatchback produced by the Toyota Motor Manufacturing Canada. It was first released in 2002. It was an outcome of the collaboration between General Motors and Matrix.


toyota voltzIt was first made available for sale in the United States, later in Mexico and Canada. It is also believed to be categorized as the hatchback with a sporty touch, a competition of the North America Corolla. When compared with Vibe, the Voltz has a different material for the exterior. These both cars are like station wagon and are narrow in shape, a type of vehicle that is referred to as sport wagon. It was first sold in 2002; it went under a slight modification in 2005. Further it was restyled completely in 2009. Finally the manufacturing of the Voltz was ceased in 2013 in the United States and in 2014 in Canada.


First Generation Toyota Voltz

It was first released in 2004 and was established on the platform of Toyota Corolla. It had no changes till 2004, after a modification in 2005, there were some minor changes to the exterior.  It was charged with a 1.8 L four-cylinder engines. It was offered with an all wheel drive option, automatic transmission and was available from 2003 to 2006, combined with the 1ZZ engine.


Second Generation Toyota Voltz

The second generation Voltz was released in 2007 in Las Vegas at the Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) show. It was offered in three models in the United States and the engine was based on the two inline-four engines. There were base, S and XRS grades. The low specified models were offered with a four-speed automatic transmission or four-speed automatic transmission whereas the heavier engines were charged with an automatic, manual or a four-speed automatic transmission. On the other hand the S was charged with an all-wheel drive and a four-speed automatic.


In Canada the Toyota voltz was made available in three grades, the base model, the XR and XRS. In the 2011, the voltz was offered with newly restyled exterior and interior along with the front and rear, from seat belts to the wheels. In 2009 it started offering different options and grades in Canada and the United States. Where the Canadian market received AWD option and XR trim exclusively and the United States market was offered the S model exclusively. The 2009 released Toyota voltz had little interior as compared to the other previously released models. And from 2011, the XRS grade was no longer produced for the United States market.



Safety

For offering a safe and secure ride the Toyota Voltz was made available with side curtain airbags, side torso airbags, electronic brakeforce distribution and anti-lock braking on all the models. The 2010 year models of Toyota Voltz were made offered with the standard traction control and vehicle stability control.
Later for the 2011 model year Toyota Voltz, Toyotas Smart Stop Technology was included. The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has rated Toyota Voltz as “Good” for both side and frontal crash tests. With these advanced safety features there is a big demand for used Toyota Voltz.
