The Hyundai Veracruz is categorized as a mid-size crossover manufactured by the South Korean automaker Hyundai since2006. It is also called the Hyundai ix55 in Europe and Russia. It was mainly sold in the Middle East, Dominican Republic, South Korea, Brazil, Canada and the United States. In 2007 to 2011 it was introduced to Europe and parts of Asia. The vehicle offered many features in a considerably low price when compared with other competitive vehicles. The cabin is full of luxury features and the ride quality is good too and therefore it could be compared with the luxury-branded crossover SUVs of the time.

But on the other hand it had a very little interior space, also the lacked the element of stylishness in the design. Still it was considered to be a good choice for the buyers interested in a crossover with numerous features.

MODELS AND FEATURES

The Hyundai Veracruz available in seven-seats was manufactured from 2007 till 2012. It was charged with a 3.8-liter V6 paired to a six-speed automatic. With an all-wheel drive as an option, Front-wheel drive was available as a standard feature. The Veracruz was offered in GLS, SE and Limited models. The GLS had a six-speaker audio system with satellite radio, a tilt-and-telescoping steering wheel, air-conditioning, heated side mirrors and 17-inch wheels. The SE was available with no exceptional features. The options offered on these models were heated front seats, Bluetooth, a sunroof and a power driver seat. On SE model was offered a power liftgate, a premium audio system and leather upholstery.

The Veracruz Limited had most of the lower models options available as standard features. It had a power front passenger seat and a dual-zone climate control. A surround-sound audio system and a navigation system are offered as optional features. A power liftgate and a navigation system were made available on the 2008 year model. The very next year two optional packages were offered on the GLS. And consequently the SE model was discontinued from the production. For the 2009 and 2010 model, a rear-seat DVD entertainment system was also made available. Both all-wheel drive and Front-wheel drive are offered. The Veracruz has an EPA-estimated 17/22 mpg city/highway. As reported by the test drivers the vehicle has a very controlled ride on the highway but on the rougher roads it is likely to lose its agreeable ride.

SOPHISTICATED INTERIOR

The 2012 Hyundai Veracruz was admired by the test drivers for its sophisticated interior features but the engine is criticized for its under potential engine, tedious handling and very limited third-row seats. The interior is built with precision. It is appealing and quiet both. The first and second row seats are appreciated for its capaciousness whereas the third row seats are very small.

The standard features offered on the 2012 Veracruz are eight- or 10-speaker Infinity stereo system, a six-speaker stereo and a USB port, rear parking sensors, a rearview camera, navigation and a Bluetooth. Overall the Veracruz is a very well designed, luxurious with a quiet ride and smooth handling. When it was released, it was compared with contemporary luxury vehicles instead of the ordinary competitors.
