Before Millennium Beginning

The difference in Mitsubishi Lancer and Ford Focus is major, because though the company Ford is old but the Ford Focus is younger to Mitsubishi Lancer. The Focus manufacturing started in 1998 as a replacement of Ford Escort with features optimization. It went through last minute problem in German market, as they were unable to allow name Focus, as a magazine it was already using the name. The issue was resolved later and led to the worldwide launch of Focus. The Lancer on the other hand has manufacturing started in 1973 and continued till 2000; the vehicle went through improvements for good. The Lancer was basically introduced to fill the gap between small Kei Cars and larger Galant. The vehicle also became part of Safari Rally twice; hence Lancer has been used as a sport facility as well.

After Millennium Start

The year 2000 brought in Lancer Cedia that was based on Mirage Lancer. The new model came in two bodies of sedan and station wagon, though it was not offered in some countries because similar models from the company were there. The marketing of Lancer in Asia was done keeping market preference in mind. But before the promotional activities came in full swing the car body was optimized. The different trim levels with engine were offered, with Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT) in full swing. The engines at this moment include the small to medium size having the 1300 CC, 1500 CC, 1600 CC, 2000 CC and 2400 CC option with 1800 CC stock offered in turbo and non-turbo version. The Europe and North America market had adjustments in a way that best suit their customers, with addition of Sport back and Ralliart to the range.

The end of decade brought in a new generation of Focus with launch in Paris Motor Show in 2004.  At that moment the five door hatchback and an estate version was there with Beijing Motor Show having 4 door sedan options as well. The restyling happened in 2007 for North America market with availability of two door coupe and four door sedan having the hatchback and wagon body discontinuation.
