When the Japanese vehicle manufacturer Suzuki built its European presence in the 1980s, they offered small sedans and minivans in North America and the Asian markets. The company expanded its model range upwards only with the Suzuki Baleno and the second generation of the Suzuki Ignis.
The designer served the middle class for a long time with vehicles that do not come from their own development agencies and some as the sedan Suzuki Verona as constructions partners such as General Motors (GM) or Daewoo sold in some markets under the label Suzuki. Only in 2009 the Japanese changed for a reorientation separation of GM and the forthcoming cooperation with the German Volkswagen Corporations strategy. The goal was to make a self-developed middle class sedan with Japanese identity for the world market. Therefore, the first Suzuki model of the middle class also received in foreign markets as a Japanese name: Kizashi. In 2010, the Suzuki Kizashi was introduced in the European markets as a new flagship of the producer.
When designing its notchback model, the Japanese used the usual at this time Limousine forms whose curves and dimensions should signal dynamics and luxury simultaneously. With a length of 4.65 meters and a wheelbase of just 2.70 meters and a width of about 1.80 meters, the Suzuki Kizashi also showed class representative features. The peculiarities of the Suzuki Kizashi tapped rather inside: Unlike most European producers, which could pay many features especially to the Japanese offered a standard fully equipped sedan.
The Suzuki Kizashi was available in two versions with front-wheel drive and four-wheel technology. The conventional drive was combined with a manual six-speed gearbox, while the four-wheel vehicles as standard an automatic switch have been installed. In the engine, the Japanese used to launch on a gasoline engine of 2.4 liter capacity class in Europe. The Euro5 engine with four cylinders set the Suzuki Kizashi up to 131 kW (178 hp) and drove the sedan to 215 kilometers per hour.
The Suzuki Kizashi required for the sprint from zero to one hundred kilometers per hour, depending on drive version from 7.8 to 8.8 seconds. The average consumption for the front-wheel drive Suzuki Kizashi was the manufacturer with 7.9 liters of premium on (183 g / km CO2). In the all-wheel version of the Suzuki Kizashi consumed in combined operation around 8.3 liters of fuel (191 g / km CO2).
