NISSAN SERENA Malawi structure is square, slightly softened by the curvature of the beltline, which slightly alters those markedly cubic features that characterize the entire body. Aesthetically, NISSAN SERENA has improved considerably compared to its "predecessor", but it certainly has little to do with the Nissan lines.

The engine is MR20DD with Xtronic CVT gearbox, is an updated version of the 4-cylinder direct-injection petrol engine fitted to the previous series. Three trim levels are available: 20X, 20 G, and Highway Star, all three with automatic tailgate opening and parking sensors.
The engine is currently only one 2-liter petrol engine with continuously variable Xtronic automatic transmission and has been produced with both front and all-wheel drive.
The propulsion of the Nissan Serena is entrusted to a 1.6-liter four-cylinder engine, capable of reaching a maximum power of 97 hp or 71 kW at 5,660 rpm. The maximum speed is around 150 km / h, and the fuel consumption is 10 litres per 100 kilometers (approx) which is a very low amount for a van.
A triangular window is added to the front pillar, and the inclination of the rear pillar is substantially changed. The interiors are enriched with a center console, illuminated in blue.
Since the same braking system used in the Nissan Vanette cargo is used in the NISSAN SERENA Malawi but has a greater payload, the braking effect of the former is particularly good. It is a large minivan, with good handling and excellent habitability, even if the space for the three passengers in the back row is not as comprehensive as front. Its consumption is high, especially for petrol engines. Steering, accelerator and brake work completely autonomously, allowing for more relaxed driving. Through image processing, the system can understand road and traffic conditions; in this way, it operates the steering. From the latter, it is possible to activate the ProPILOT via a button.

System operation can be checked via a display. The single-lens camera is equipped with advanced image processing software that can three-dimensionally recognize both the cars in front and the lane markings. By selecting a specific speed, the system keeps the vehicle in the center of the motorway lane, controlling the steering even when cornering. The ProPILOT system automatically applies the brakes until the car comes to a complete stop.

The NISSAN SERENA Malawi remains stationary even if the driver does not keep his foot on the brake pedal. When restarting, it is activated as soon as the switch is touched again or the accelerator is pressed. Nissan tested this system under various conditions to offer a safe and reliable product once it is on the market.

ProPILOT will be introduced in other cars, including Qashqai in Europe and the US markets. The multi-lane autonomous driving technology will enable automatic lane changes on the motorway.
