Mazda Motors Corporation is known as the manufacturer of the innovative and unique automobile solutions. The corporation works earnestly to fulfill customer’s dreams and wishes and provide vehicles that are futuristic and relevant to their lives. Mazda familia is the best example of the fact. The subcompact family car was launched in the market in 1963 and ever since its inception has been the preferred choice of the customers.

 

The vehicle was targeted towards the Japanese markets initially and later exported extensively to other regions. The other names in which it is marketed across the globe are Mazda 323 and Mazda protégé. The vehicle has been modified over the period of eight generations to remain competitive in the market and to meet ever changing trends.


First Generation

First generation was from the 1963 to 1968 and vehicle was targeted mainly towards the Japanese customers. the price was kept quite affordable and the features offered included: two to four doors, flat front deck, fog lights, trim, chrome grille, 782 cc displacement, inline four cylinders, SOHC engine, horsepower, rectangular headlights, four speed manual and automatic transmission, 2140 mm long wheel base, correctly proportioned length , width and height and two valves for efficient functioning of engine.


Second Generation

The second generation introduced models from 1967 to 1973. The versions were known in international markets as Mazda 1000 and Mazda 1200. The features and dimensions of the second generation versions were:  two to four doors, 985 cc to 1272 cc displacement and engine, 2260 mm long wheelbase, 3845 mm of length and 1480 mm of width. The Mazda grand was launched in second generation and offered better fuel economy than any other vehicles of the first generation.


Third Generation

The consumers witnessed the third generation familia versions from year 1977 to 1980. The models that were marketed in these years were AP, 1000, 1300 and 323. The body style kept mainly was three doors to five doors hatchback and station wagon. Other specifications were: 985 cc engines to 1597 cc displacement, 2311 mm long wheel base, 3820 mm length, 1595mm width and 812 kilograms of curb weight. The third generation vehicles were exported greatly to Indonesian market.


Fourth And Fifth Generation of Mazda Familia

The fourth to fifth generation was from 1980 to 1989. The cars of the fourth and fifth generation were Mazda 323, GLC, ford tonic and sao Penza. The body and chassis specifications were 3 to 5 doors hatchback, ff layout, 1.1 liters engine to 1.5, four wheels drive, automatic transmission of 3 speed and manual transmission 4 to 5 speed, 2400 mm long wheelbase, 4110 mm length and 1645 mm width, height of 54.7 inches.


Sixth To Eighth Generation

The sixth, seventh and eighth generation of Mazda familia was from 1989 to 2003. The last three generations had turbocharged engine properties. Vehicles were comparatively stronger and powerful than previous generation.

 

The body style ranged from hatchback, sedan to wagon with supportive manual and automatic transmission. The average mileage per gallon is 10.2 mpg which gives fuel economy and lower CO2 emissions for en environmental friendly drive.
