FIRST GENERATION OF NISSAN ALMERA

Nissan AlmeraThe first generation Nissan Almera was a replacement for Nissan Sunny very similar to N15 Nissan Pulsar. The 1995 models had petrol engines 1.4 GA14DE, 1.6 GA16DE  and 2.0 CD20 diesel engines, latter 2.0 SR20DE and GTi were added to the list.

In UK the Nissan Almera was offered as hatchbacks with three or four doors unlike Ireland where saloon version was preferred. The standard feature list included driver airbag, power steering, stereo and electric mirrors. Alloy wheels were added from 1996. The 1998 model was available with restyled front bumpers. The front splitters were included as standard feature on the Si/SRi, and the GTi.

SECOND GENERATION OF NISSAN ALMERA

The second generation of Nissan Almera was introduced in 2006 very different from its antecedent version with even curves on exterior. After the collaboration with Renault , global MS-Platform became the very first platform that was used as the base for N16 Almera. The same platform was used for Primera and Almera Tino.
From UK, Almera’s five-door hatchback was exported to New Zealand and Australia. Except from the different front end, the Almera sedan is very similar to the Bluebird Sylphy. The N16 Almera had great enhancement and advancement over the earlier generation of Almera when considering drive dynamics, tyre grip and handling. The last generation’s Almera was more spacious when compared with the N16 Almera. The new N16 Almera had a very little space in rear passenger legroom while the new Almera had a much bigger boot than the previous one.

The second-generation Almera offered three different body styles, a three- or five-door hatchback and a four-door saloon available with 1.5 and 1.8 Nissan QG engine series petrol engines as well as a 2.2 direct injection turbodiesel (110 bhp) or common-rail turbodiesel (136 bhp) . The engine was a refined example of the mechanics shared by the collaboration of Nissan and Renaults.

In 2003, the Almera was modified with updated styling, retuned suspension, new engines and an updated interior. With the use of front suspension and multi-link rear suspension the ride became noiseless and more controlled. The modification also included a honeycomb mesh grille for improving visual quality small circular fog lights and new headlights were other enhancements.

The interior of the new Almera was no less improved than the previous version with a color or a monochrome screen; many of the interior functions were controlled such as trip computer, CD player and climate control.
