The Volkswagen polo is categorized as a super mini car manufactured by the German automaker Volkswagen. It was first released in 1975.it is offered in various bodystyle such as estate, coupé, sedan and hatchback and was available for sale in European and other markets.


THE VOLKSWAGEN POLO 1.4

The Volkswagen polo 1.4 was released in 1999. The polo available in hatchback style had all new bumpers and headlights and a newly designed interior similar to that of the Lupo. The exterior appearance was very much similar to the Mark III. It was stated by the Volkswagen polo that the 70% of the parts of the car were new. The body of the car was made stiff but was not completely redesigned. Some of the panels were changed. Twin airbags were offered as standard. The estate and saloon models had a completely new interior but the exterior had not gone through a complete modification. For the three and five door hatchbacks, the 3-cylinder 1.4 TDI engine was used, along with an option of a 1.6 16v GTI version.

The Volkswagen polos were initially offered in saloon and the hatchback models and these models were promoted as the Volkswagen Derby. After the Mark II was released, the saloon model was known as Volkswagen Polo Classic while the hatchback model was known as the Volkswagen Polo Coupé.


GENERATIONS OF VOLKSWAGEN POLO

The Volkswagen polo received the 2010 world car of the year award. The first generation polo was released in 1975 and was based on the Audi 50. It had minor differences when compared with the Audi 50. It was produced in the Wolfsburg at the Volkswagen plant. The second generation model was released in 1981 with major changes to the body of the vehicle. It was released in two body styles and was known as wagon in some markets and as a coupe in some other markets. The sedan model was known as the Polo Classic with an end to the Derby name. For its popularity the production was extended till Spain.

 

The third generation Volkswagen was also known as the Mark III Polo or Typ 6N. It was released in the 1994. It had a completely new chassis, offered in three and five door hatchback models. The estate and the saloon models of the car were released previously. These models were based on the same platform as was used for the Volkswagen Caddy 9K. The fourth generation Volkswagen was released in 2001 also known as the type 9 and often referred as the “Mark 6”. The structure of the car is based on that of the Golf MK4 (1J). On the exterior the headlights are very similar to those used on the Lupo.
