Mitsubishi EK Wagon - A Successor of Mitsubishi Minica

Mitsubishi EK is categorized as a Japanese Kei car offer by Mitsubishi as a successor of Mitsubishi Minica. It was first time introduced in 2001. The first facelift Mitsubishi EK wagon was introduced for the first time in 2014.


The very first generation of EK was available as different body shape such as EK Wagon, EK Active and EK Sports. However, EK classy was discontinued in 2005.


With the Mitsubishi EK, the Japanese take the second model on the road, which was created in collaboration with Nissan. The Mitsubishi EK Space celebrates its premiere and its only visually slightly modified sister model EK Space Custom at the Tokyo Motor Show in late November.

The box-shaped design combines a large interior for four passengers with a small vehicle. A generous, heat-insulating glazing ensures good all-round visibility. An electrically operated sliding door at the rear provides access to the rear.


The Custom differs from the simple Space variant only by a newly drawn chrome radiator grille, newly shaped headlights and rims.


Interior

The interior features continuous seats in both rows. The absence of a center console creates foot space and saves width. Automatic selector lever, all controls and a large touch screen were bundled at the top of the dashboard. The rear seats can be fully folded forward and thus increase the load space.


Dimensions

The Mitsubishi EK has been one of the most popular cars for years. Its narrow, high appearance makes it a unique car and stands out. The kei-car is 3.40 meters long and 1.48 meters wide. The height, however, can be up to two meters.


In return, the owners have to pay fewer taxes and need small parking space, this point is extremely important especially in the big cities. The Mitsubishi EK Space is significantly higher than its brother.


Engine Specification

Under the hood, a three-cylinder with legally regulated displacement of 660 cubic centimeters works well which provide the maximum power of 64 hp. The switching work takes over a continuously variable CVT transmission.


Features

The features offer in EK Wagon includes an electrically-opening sliding door, air conditioning with touch panel and special UV-absorbing glass for the huge windows. The eK also has four-wheel drive and rear-view camera in the rear-view mirror. In early 2014, the EK Wagon come on the Japanese local market, it is built in collaboration with Nissan.
