Daihatsu Hijet Van - The Reliable Vehicle

The Daihatsu Hijet is one of the first export models from the manufacturer due to its popularity around the world. The manufacturer Daihatsu introduced a van in late 1940s in local Japanese market; it was intended to enjoy special tax advantages of small size and small engines in Japan.

By the early 1960s, the manufacturer expanded its program with a series of four-wheeled vans, as Daihatsu Hijet emerged in different body versions. In the late 1970s were the models of Daihatsu Hijet series with the first vehicles that exported the designer to Europe.

Following the withdrawal of the European markets Daihatsu Hijet continued by the Italian manufacturer Piaggio built under license and marketed as Piaggio Porter.

Microvan and Commercial Vehicles

At the start of the series, the Daihatsu Hijets initially ran as pickup trucks with open cargo or tarp system from tape. In the 1970s, the Daihatsu Hijet developed a commercial vehicle with flatbed, and a panel van completed the model program.

With the start of exports to Europe from the year 1977, the Japanese constructed the first microvans based on the Daihatsu Hijets. The nearly 3.20 meters long minibuses with lateral sliding door could accommodate up to six passengers and goods by introducing a high-roof version from 1980 available in two body variants.

Four-wheel Drive & All-wheel Drive

Shortly after the introduction of the sixth-generation Hijet in Year 1981 Daihatsu presented the first models in the series, which were equipped with a selectable four-wheel drive. The all-wheel-Hijets were as a commercial vehicle with flatbed and a van to have and minibus.

Thus the Daihatsu Hijet is one of the few cars in its class that was available for an all-wheel drive version. This tradition continued by the Italian designer Piaggio, which made the European Daihatsu Hijets since 1992 and later brought under its own brand name in the trade.

Interior

The engine of the car is under the front seat. The minivan has generously large interior with comfortable seats having great interior space. The Hijet van is pretty suitable for large families with children who need good space and great driving pleasure with comfort on long journeys.
