Overview
The Rav4 was Toyota’s answer to the competitor in compact 4x4 category vehicles such as Suzuki and Daihatsu. The car is actually rugged and stylish. The Rav4 is about as close as you can get to a mini-Range Rover. It is elegant, reliable and efficient. Most popular models of toyota rav4 include 2014, 2013, 2012, 2011 and 2009.

The first impression that Toyota Rav4 give is sharp edges in a compact, round body. The design philosophy is best suited for a car in its class because it combines spacious and generous proportions without compromising on style. The new car is much larger than its predecessors, thus making it an excellent all round for family too. There seems to be something of the Corolla in the car’s face, particularly the middle and radiator grills.

The interior in the Rav4 is something you’d typically find in a Toyota. The materials used in the dashboard and door aren’t what we like to call premium but is good in quality. Interior of this Toyota signature car is not much premium but also not so bad. The cabin itself is spacious, a full 86cm roomier than the last generation Rav4. The controls are ergonomically placed, and the instrument cluster is excellent. It’s a pity that there is no 3rd row seat in the back, on the upside!
Engine Specs
The Rav4 comes with a choice of either a 2.0 liter or 2.2 liter diesel engine, both provide ample amounts of torque but horsepower figures aren’t impressive. The engines come with a choice of 3 gearboxes, a 4-speed automatic, 5-speed manual or a CVT gearbox. The entry level versions come with 2WD standard. The Rav4 has McPherson struts in the front and back, with adequate ground clearance to give it respectable off road performance. The suspension seems really comfortable on and off road, but it does appear to be on the soft side when it comes to high speed cornering; the body detestably rolls in the corners. The steering is surprisingly light, and apart from a taller driving position you’d never feel that you’re driving around in a 4x4.

Verdict
The Rav4 is an excellent all round car. The 2.0 liter diesel engines promise excellent fuel economy and adequate ability at towing heavy loads. The ground clearance means you can go dune bashing every once in a while, and the comfortable, spacious cabin and soft suspension makes it an effortlessly comfortable car for family.
We don’t think reliability will be an issue; Toyotas have a knack of never EVER going wrong. But there is also a 5 year warranty too, so any petty mechanical issues can be dealt for free.
