The Toyota corsa is categorized as a subcompact car produced by the Toyota from 1978 to 1999 in five different body styles. The Toyota corsa was advertised as Corolla ll. It was replaced in 2000 by the Toyota Platz. Latter with the addition of a four-door sedan the body style range was extended.


THE FIRST GENERATION OF TOYOTA CORSA

In Japan Toyota Corsel was released in 1978 and latter in the United States. It was available in two and four-door sedan, also in a three-door hatchback. In the United States of America it was known as the Tercel. The Toyota corsa had a modification in 1980 with significant variation to the front design of the vehicle and minor changes to the rear and interior of the vehicle.


THE SECOND GENERATION OF TOYOTA CORSA

Second generation Toyota corsa was released in 1982. Compared to its previous models this second generation Toyota corsa model is more advanced and angular in shape. It was offered in three and five-door hatch back body style and a four-door station wagon and a four-door sedan. The station wagon was known as the Sprinter Carib in Japan.


THE THIRD GENERATION OF TOYOTA CORSA

The third generation of Toyota corsa was launched in 1987 with a slightly larger exterior dimensions. It was installed with a new 12-valve engine. Other advancements were independent suspension and a remodified rack-and-pinion steering. In North American market it was considered as the most inexpensive car offered by the Toyota. In the Japanese market the fully loaded package was GP-Turbo. It was labeled as the "Pegasus". It was available with active suspension technology called TEMS.


THE FOURTH GENERATION OF THE TOYOTA CORSA

The fourth generation Toyota corsa was released in the 1990. It was offered in two body styles such as a sedan in two and four-door options and a hatchback in three-doors. The hatchback model was not available in the North American market and the two door sedan. In Japan it was available in a 4WD version. The hatchback models included VC, Joinus, and Avenue while the sedan models were VE, VX, and VZ. North American models included Base coupe, DX coupe, DX sedan, and LE sedan. The 1993 modification included anti-lock brakes, a standard drivers side airbag and a slight drivers side airbag.



THE FIFTH GENERATION OF TOYOTA CORSA

The fifth generation Toyota corsa is released in 1994. It was offered with the OBDII. It had a firm body and improved handling. It was available with a new engine technology and the modified exterior. For the United States market it was available with the standard drivers and passengers side airbags while for the Canadian market only a drivers side bag was offered. The new look of the Toyota corsa was influenced by the Toyota Camry V40 released in the same year. The 1998 modification of the Toyota corsa included multi-reflector headlights, redesigned grille and front and rear signal lights. Production of the Toyota corsa for the United States ceased in 1998.
