The “Corolla” Nameplate:

The Toyota Corolla is a commonly used name nowadays, chances are, you haven’t seen Edward Cullen, but you must have seen a lot of Toyota Corollas parked somewhere on the road. This car wasn’t even around in the 60s. Japan was in a state of economic turmoil, and even the Volkswagen Beetle (dubbed “peoples’ car” all around the world) seemed well beyond reach. So Toyota came along, with a rickety little 4 door sedan that could be purchased brand new for a fraction of the cost that any European car demanded at the time.

The Best Selling Car In The World!

Slowly, but surely, the Corolla grew in stature. Every new generation introduced, had something innovative for its time, and all the while Toyota was improving on toyota corollabuilding quality and equipment levels to bring its cars on par with domestic vehicles produced in Europe. Corollas became famous for their legendary reliability and excellent value for money. These were the first cars that could even be considered as an investment, since they retained their value better than any other car of the time. Top Gear once quoted that Japanese imports killed the British Motoring industry, because the average British car spent half its time at the garage while a Corolla or Datsun would start perfectly, every day, every winter, for 20 years!

2015 Toyota Corolla:

The all new Corolla for 2015 continues the tradition set by its ancestors, impeccable value for money. The car has been designed with a new customer philosophy, with its funky exterior and GT-86 inspired interiors; it appears that Toyota wants the new car to appeal to a younger consumer demographic. Gone are the 80s when Corollas were plagued with monotone grey interiors, and an exterior design that comprised almost exclusively of rectangles. The new generation looks very fresh, and we like it!

Used Toyota Corolla for Sale:

If the new Corolla seems out of budget, you can still find good examples on the second hand market. Being a Toyota, you can be sure that the Corolla car is built like a brick! That being said, it doesn’t mean you should be careless. Keep a watchful eye out for any good bargains which appears in front of you and scan classifieds, and if possible give internet listings a try too. There are two kinds of Corollas on the market nowadays, the locally used cars you find in all newspapers, and the rarer, unregistered Japanese used imports that are almost exclusively available at dealerships. We’d recommend you go for the latter sure, it may look a bit pricey, but you get a lot of car for the money. Used imports are usually in pristine condition, even though they have good mileage on them, you can expect to have a scratch-less car that is original bumper to bumper. Most dealers also give a limited warranty on such vehicles because they have been certified as road worthy in Japan prior to shipping, and are largely devoid of even any minimal damage that you commonly observe in local cars.
