Toyota 4Runner is a vehicle coming from Toyota Motor Corporation has much more promising offered as compare to competitor. Toyota is headquartered in Aichi Japan, with a standing in those who rule the automobile industry. The year 2012 had the sales of 200th million vehicle sold in total since the first car production. It has the dream of 2014 to make sales reach bench mark of 10 million each year.


Toyota 4Runner is an SUV that had its first half production as compact SUV that later modified to mid size SUV in later half.  There was much more that changed in the two half life span of this vehicle that continues even today.

The Beginning

In the first generation the door pickup body was available only. The engine displacement varied though with changing engine over the years. The 3Y I4 and 22R/22R-E came in plain inline 4 technology with turbo option of 22R-TE, turbo diesel 2L-T and diesel option 2L inline 4.

The Mid

The 3 door and 5 door wagon body style in second generation. The engine came as 2.0 L, 2.2 L, 2.4 L, 2.8 L and 3.0 L. The automatic transmission came in 4 speed and manual had 5 speed option. The 2.7 L, 3.0 L and 3.4 L were available in third generation that brought in Vehicle Stability Control as standard. The multimatic transmission also became standard in 4WD model.

Close To Today

The fourth generation brought in mid size wagon available in 5 door options with the 3.0L in 1KZ-TE inline 4 turbo diesel, 3.0 L 1KD-FTV inline 4, 4.0L in 1GR-FE in V6 and 4.7 L 2UZ-FE in V8. The last generation that continues till today has 2.7 L 2TR-FE in inline 4 and 4.0 L 1GR-FE in V6 technology.   The 4 speed automatic transmission came in inline4 and 5 speed automatic in V6 technology.


Hence it kept on improving making the latest one, a mechanically efficient option.
