The Suzuki swift is categorized as a subcompact car manufactured by Suzuki since 2002 in Japan whereas the name “swift” has been used as nameplate on the Suzuki cultus in many export markets.


The sports model of the Suzuki swift was released in 2005 in japan as SwiftRS. Later it was made available for sale for the European markets in 2006 under the name as Swift Sport. It was charged with a M16A unit along with a 1.6-litre and that is a naturally aspirated DOHC VVT four-cylinder engine. The swift sports has Specifications  including stiffer suspension, sportier bumpers and spoilers, twin exhaust pipes, four-wheel disc brakes on 16-inch wheels and red sport seats. The European swift sports have a body with three doors, 17-inch wheels, five-speed manual transmission and electronic stability control (ESC).


Generations Of Suzuki Swift

The first generation Suzuki swift was released in 2000 replacing Suzuki cultus. It was known as the Suzuki Ignis outside japan. It was made available in hatchback body style in three and five doors. The Suzuki Swift was charged with a new series of inline-four gasoline engines known as the M family. It was offered with an optional four-speed automatic and a five-speed manual transmission. The car had either four-wheel drive or front-wheel drive. The three door hatchback was later used as a basis for the swift sport in japan. In other export markets it was known as an Ignis Sport. It was released in 2003; it had modified bumpers and was equipped with a 1.5-litre engine. With the continuation of the regular Swift models till 2006 specific to the Japanese market, however the Sports model remained in production till 2005.


The second generation Suzuki swift was released in 2004 at the Paris Motor Show. The design of the new swift was tested on the Concept S and Concept S2 Cars. This generation focused on the “sporty" subcompact cars, especially for the European markets. The generation got a four star rating. The car was globally launched in 2005 was advertised by the football player Cristiano Ronaldo in many countries. The marketing campaign remained very successful in increasing the sales.
The third generation swift was released in 2010. It was manufactured at the Suzuki’s Plant in Hungary. In many countries, the third generation of the Suzuki swift had a 1.4 liter VVT petrol engine.  Towards the end of the same year, the third generation swift was released for the test drive on the British roads.

 

The Suzuki Maruti Swift

The Maruti Suzuki swift was released in India in 2005. It was charged with a 1.3-litre petrol engine. Later in 2007 the Suzuki released a fiat-sourced Maruti with a 1.3 L DDiS engine. Due to the BS IV emission concerns in 2010, the 1.3 L petrol engine was replaced with a 1.2 L K-series engine. Later in 2011, the third generation swift was released with a 1.3 L DDiS engine.


Swift Sport Sz-R

The Swift Sport SZ-R was released in the United Kingdom; it was a special edition of the swift the SZ-R. The car was equipped with seven air bags, cruise control and rear privacy glass. Other notable features are USB Port, Bluetooth connectivity, auto air conditioning and 17-inch wheels.
