Subaru Tribeca- Beautiful Mid Size Crossover SUV

The Subaru Tribeca is categorized as a mid-size crossover SUV. It was released in 2005 by Subaru. The name is derived from the neighboring city of New York “TriBeCa”. The car is manufactured on the platform of Subaru Legacy. It is offered in five and seven seats. Motivated by the B9X concept car, the design of Tribeca was not approved by its audience at the launch show and therefore it was modified in 2007. It was then sold with the name “Tribeca” in all markets. The car was not sold locally; it was released in the North American market in 2005 and in Australasia in 2006 and was finally introduced in Europe in 2007. Apart from these markets, the Tribeca is also made available in some parts of South East Asia, China, Chile and Argentina.

2006-2007 Models

The Tribeca’s updated model was released in 2006. It was launched at the Chicago auto show. The features included were stabilizer bars, revised grille, spring rates and revised struts. A parking assist system and a backup camera were included as optional features. Features such as XM radio, mesh grille and unique wheels were included on a ‘Special Edition” Package.

2008-2014 Models

The 2008 year model Subaru was released in 2007 at the New York international auto show. The model was launched after a modification including a 3.6-liter EZ36 flat-six engine. During this period Subaru decided to drop the “B9” tag bringing the name in harmony with Subaru Tribeca internationally. The modification was majorly done on the exterior with slight changes to the design of the second row seats for making the interior more spacious and making the third row easily accessible.

The Most Recent Subaru Tribeca

The Subaru B9 Tribeca was sold during 2006 and 2007.Subaru B 9 was charged with a 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine. It was offered in five or seven passenger seats. The base model was offered with power front seats, dual-zone automatic climate control, a tilt-only steering wheel, 18-inch alloy wheels, a CD player, a six-speaker sound system and a sunroof. An audio jack was also included in the 2007 model Tribeca. Subaru Tribeca with seven seats offered all the features of the base model along with rear climate controls and heated front seats. The limited package offered with an upgraded sound system and leather upholstery. A rear seat entertainment system, rearview camera and a navigation system was available as the optional features.

The cabin was the biggest turn off with an abundant use of plastics. The absence of telescoping steering wheel made the driving position uncomfortable. Luckily there was a plentiful cargo area in the rear. Overall the Subaru B9 Tribeca is not a good recommendation to be bought as a used car.

It was declared in 2012 that the Subaru Tribeca production and sale will be stopped in the US and Australia.
