In 1998, the all-new water-cooled model took the place of air-cooled 911 that has been in production for about thirty-four years it is also named as Type 996. Where all the previous Porsche had 1963 shell as the basis, this new Porsche had a major redesign body shell. The interior was very simple as compared to the previous 911. 996 GT3 (1999–2004)

 

Porsche launched a road model of a GT3 version of the 996 series which was developed from the company racing GT3. 996 Turbo (2001–2005)

 

Porsche released the Turbo Type 996.  Like the similar previous models, the new Turbo was only offered in all-wheel drive. 997 Series (2005–2012)

 

In 2005 a more modified and revised model of the 911 was released. It was known as the 997. This model maintains the essential elements of the 996, diminishing the drag coefficient to 0.28. The new headlights were inspired by the old bug-eye design with its interior restyled There were two models of the 997 were launched for example the rear-wheel-drive Carrera and Carrera S. Turbo model of the 997

The Turbo model of the 997 series had the same 3.6 L twin-turbocharged engine as the 996 Turbo. With more flexibility and power, the new engine had improved fuel consumption. The 997 Turbo has an all-wheel-drive system. It had PTM (Porsche Traction Management). It has a clutch-based system too in order to adjust the amount of torque to prevent tire slippage. Porsche announced A new 911 Turbo S for production in 2010. It had sports exhausts and PDK gearbox.

 

 

991 Series 

 

The 991 is based on the entirely new platform. Michael Mauer was the leading designer of the team. Porsche revealed the design and other detailed information regarding the 991 Carrera and Carrera S in 2011. The Carrera has a 3.4-litre engine and the Carrera S has a 3.8-litre engine. The external dimensions of the vehicle have been increased. The new 911 has broad headlights. The center console is the most notable feature that is adopted by the Carrera GT.
