Nissan Avenir vs. Toyota Caldina

Nissan Avenir has turbocharged diesel engine with four straight cylinders. It is supported by 2 liter capacity, 1973 cc displacement, 84.5 mm bore, 88 mm stroke, 0.96 ratio, overhead camshaft, and two valves per cylinder, 191 Nm of torque, diesel injection system, turbocharged aspiration and catalytic converter. Whereas Toyota caldina carries and is fitted with 2.2 liters engine capacity, 86 mm bore, 94 mm stroke, 0.91 ratio, overhead camshaft, eight valves, 206 Nm of maximum torque performance, water as engine coolant and catalytic converter. The performance excellence is achieved through all engine specifications collectively for both vehicles.

 

Dimensions and Parameters

Avenir has a wheelbase length of about 2620 mm whereas caldina wheelbase is 2580 mm long. Other avenir measurements include: 1475 mm front tread, 4650 mm length, 1695 mm width, 150 meters of ground clearance, 1390 kilograms kerb weight and fuel tank capacity adequately 60 liters. The dimensions approximately measured for caldina are: 60 liters of fuel tank capacity, 2580 mm wheelbase, length 4570 mm, width 1695 mm, height 1485 mm and 1410 kilograms of kerb weight.

 

Chassis and Other Specifications

Both Caldina and Avenir has front engine position and transverse layout. Nissan avenir is front wheel drive however Toyota caldina is all wheel drive. The steering system is rack and pinion supporting the front and rear tires. The ventilated disc brakes are fitted in both vehicles with 4 speed automatic transmission and drive ration of about 3.83 and 3.18 for avenir and caldina respectively. Both cars are rated highly for good and easy handling over smooth and bumpy roadways. Toyota caldina provides better interior cabin spaciousness and storage as compared to Nissan avenir.

 

Suspension

Suspension of both cars is the same. Both have McPherson front and rear suspension. The only difference is in the budget and maintenance required. Caldina holds spring while Avenir relies on conventional springs. Toyota has also budgetary front struts; with a slightly cheaper smaller diameter rod. On the other hand, Avenir has better engine transmission which is automatic and QG. The suspension difference ultimately affects the engine performance efficiency and effectiveness over distances.
