The second generation was from 2008 till present. The second generation challenger versions were called as pajero sport, Montero sport, native, pajero Dakar and challenger. The body style was similar to first generation models. The five doors car had rear or four wheel drive option along with front engine. The engine ranged front 2.4 liters to 3.5 liters. The dimensions and parameters were measured approximately as 4695 mm length, 2800 mm wheelbase, 1840 mm height and 1815 mm width. The chassis of the models was ladder frame and based completely on triton. Initially launches were made in few countries and slowly exported to different regions.
