The first generation Mazda Tribute was launched in 2000. The car was produced with collaboration with the Ford where the interest was controlled by the Ford. Along with Mazda Tribute, Ford Escape too was manufactured on the Ford CD2 platform and the Mazda GF platform.

THE FIRST GENERATION OF MAZDA TRIBUTE

At that time the sports utility vehicles were more likely based on the body-on-frame and pickup truck-based. Other significant automakers such as Toyota and Jeep were producing their cars with smaller body based on the unibody designs. For improving their ability to hold the heavy loads at the cost of a fine riding and good handling, the solid rear axles were fixed. Even though the car was not meant for the off-road cruising, an all-wheel-drive system was made an optional feature. The panels familiar to the two vehicles are the floor pressings and the roofs while the powertrains were made available from the Mazda with the base inline-four engine while the Ford made V6 engine as optional.

An AWD system made to send the major part of the power to the front wheels of the vehicle. The Control Trac II system lets you use a four-wheel drive vehicle without the use of a center differential. The entire braking system was developed by the Continental Teves, along with the ABS and many other suspension parts. In 2002, at the Ford Lio Ho Motor Co. the CKD manufacturing was initiated. It was in Taiwan for the numerous Asian markets. The major difference between the Ford and Tribute is that the tribute has a suspension tuned for a stable ride when compared with the Maverick/ Escape for relating with the sports based image of the Mazda. In the beginning both the models were kept restricted to be assembled by the Ford based in the USA. It was made specific for the North American use along with the Mazda based locally in japan delivering the vehicles for many countries of the world.

THE SECOND GENERATION OF MAZDA TRIBUTE

The second generation of the Mazda Tribute was released in 2007 as 2008 model year vehicle. In 2007, the Mazda Tribute was considerably modified just as the facelift done to the Mercury Mariner and Ford Escape. At first, the vehicle was to be codenamed as the Mazda CX-5 but the vehicle retained its name as Tribute. The changes made were not slight changes but the vehicle retained its CD2 Platform along with the 3.0 L AJ V6 and 2.3 L MZR I4 engines.

The interior was completely restyled with the use of fine quality materials and with the inclusion of new interior components. The exterior too was notably modified with more distinctive wheel arches and a higher belt line. It was done to make the car appear more significant and larger than the previous model. As a cost-saving instruction the rear brakes were used as it used to be the way it was such as drum brake. The 2008 Mazda Tribute that was a non-hybrid was first released at the 2007 Montreal International Auto Show, whereas the 2008 Mazda Tribute was made available for sale in 2007.
