The word Kia is translated as the “rising out of Asia” and stands as the oldest vehicle manufacturing company founded at South Korea in the year 1944. It has seen many ups and downs to reach the position it stand today and for that it invested its time and resources to understand needs of customers in a better way.  

It not just sold cars in South Korea but mature markets like UK was also entertained. So in order to get global it followed the following strategies, making the dealers of new and used cars satisfied selling their cars.

Acquisition

In order to mark its presence across globe, it formed an acquisition bond with the Hyundai Motor Company which owns its 33% shares. This brought in the experience of Hyundai at their door step for improvement as it stands with the largest integrated automobile manufacturing facility operating in South Korea.
It is believed that the acquisition in the year 1998 happened because of Asian financial crisis and overambitious expansion. Hyundai managed its brand well and in the year 2011 it was included in the fastest growing auto company for two consecutive years. It also acquired the forth position in global market.

Monopoly Reduction

Through its continuous improvement philosophy and long term strategic decision it was able to get share in the success of Hyundai. The dealers of used cars now believe that Hyundai acquisition of fourth position was something Kia knew ages before. So in this monopoly reduction it was the 33% of share that Hyundai had the contributed a lot.

So from a company struggling to make difference Kia became a part of fourth largest automobile manufacturer that have position behind General Motors, Volkswagen and Toyota in international market, even taking the market share from leaders.

Assembly Across Globe

Kia cars have been assembled in a number of countries to reduce the cost of production and to serve the specific market to the maximum. It has 13 manufacturing and assembly line producing one and a half million vehicles each year. For distribution purpose a number of dealers sell Kia vehicles in approximately 172 countries.  The independently operating Kia Motors America and Kia Motors Europe further gives benefit. It has been supplying complete range of cars to more than 700 dealers in America alone. The UK market is no exception, where the demand for these cars is growing with increasing year.

Design Efficiency

For design that makes all difference, a team of designers were hired under the supervision of Peter Schreyer. Mr. Schreyer has giving successful styling to a number of automobile and for Kia the famous tiger nose grille gave the unique standing as well. Hence the Kia car got a distinctive recognition because of the design strategy implemented by him. This signature design was later implemented in all the Kia car range.

The strategies followed by Kia, were able to make it acquire an inimitable position and were the open proof that through hard work one can break barriers to success. It just requires hard work and dedication to do so.
