We got out first glimpse of the Ford Ranger 4x4 for sale on automotive websites and, for the most part, we quite liked it. So you can imagine our delight when we finally got a chance to play with it for a few days. This vehicle looks and feels like a truck. It is pretty surprising to see that Ford brings maximum amenities in the one thing that generally lacks in many cars. Build quality has also been improved, and the new Ranger 4x4 seems to be pretty solid overall.

Interior & Comfort Level

Ford Ranger 4x4 for sale offers a nicer place to spend time, at least for a truck-based vehicle. The manufacturers employ the same design characteristics that we have grown accustomed to seeing on the new Focus and Mondeo. The level of luxury has been acceptable thanks to solid details. The seats are extremely comfortable, allowing five passengers to sit in relative comfort. The driving position is decent, giving a clear view of the road ahead. The dashboard is fitted with nicer and funky instrument gauges. There are also some electric windows and the usual electronic gadgetry that comes standard nowadays. This pickup truck also boasts reasonable comfort even if it is fully loaded. Moreover, it is arguably better than almost any other truck on sale today.

Engine

Ford Ranger 4x4 for sale comes equipped with a choice of two diesel engines; a 123bhp 2.2 Liter or a 197bhp 3.2 Liter 4-cylinder units. The smaller engine is interestingly popular because of its affordable price tag and more than adequate power. The Ranger is an ideal choice for people looking for an effortless tow vehicle, with a payload above 1152 Kg and a towing capability that well exceeds 3.35 tons. This vehicle is a straight heavy-weight champion and currently scores highest among other trucks in its class. Both engines lack the sort of refinement that you would expect from similar displacement petrol engines, but the amount of torque at hand greatly reduces any need to rev these engines hard. It provides ample acceleration; certainly not the best in its class, but the lumps of low-RPM torque allow you to comfortably coast around town in 6th without needing to change down.

Ford Ranger XLT - Transmission

The Ford Ranger comes with all new choices of either a 5-speed manual or 6-speed automatic transmissions. We’d recommend the automatic transmission since it also allows an option to select gears electronically. The automatic is also very smooth and tends to shift well under normal loads. It is also very reliable, we’ve been saying for years that Ford makes the toughest automatic transmissions in the business, and don’t require maintenance so often. The manual version offers slightly better fuel economy and a better rate of acceleration, but then that is highly subjective.

Verdict

Ford Ranger 4x4 for sale is an excellent vehicle for towing and other rugged chores. It offers car-like comfort as well, all the while costing less than any SUV on the market, almost there on refinement too, but there is still some way to go.
