With pickup classic F-150 and based thereon Sport Utility Vehicles (SUV) the American auto giant Ford established as a provider of models that could also be used as commercial vehicles and recreational used cars. The beginning of the new product strategy in 2000 marked the Ford Escape, as crossover was designed together with the Japanese partner Mazda and in the European countries under the name Ford Maverick came into the program. With the Year 2006 added a larger crossover model range, which went on sale as Ford Edge. For model year 2015, the introduction of the second generation of the crossover was planned, which should then also be available for European markets.
The Ford Edge Gets A Facelift
Americans took advantage of the construction platform of a recently introduced sedans series in the market, which later also offered for the Europe. The engineers modified the platform to the wheelbase for the Edge to stretch to around 2.82 meters. In the first phase from 2006 to 2010 the crossover received a designed in SUV style body with just 4.72 meters in length and a width of about 1.92 meters. With the facelift of 2011, Edge then ran with more compact dimensions of now 4.68 meters in length from the tape. The level remained unchanged at 1.70 meters. However, new thing was the front design of the Ford Edge: A higher front with steeper cooler should the Ford Edge find a more impressive appearance and can act more like an offroader model.

For the engine of the Ford Edge, the manufacturer first put one of its Duratec engines of displacement class of 3.5 liters, which could provide (269 hp) the crossover a capacity of up to 198 kW. With the facelift in 2011, the Americans extended the engine range for the Edge; (309 hp) was now also available with a more powerful V6 engine with up to 227 kW. In addition, there was a new entry-level model with an Eco-boost engine, with the Ford Edge up to 180 kW (245 hp) had access. In the proposed model with the 2015 second generation of vehicles Ford wanted to put all of the fuel-efficient Eco-Boost units. Depending on engine selection, there was the edge in two drive versions as crossover with front-wheel drive. Overall the Ford edge is a classy and one of the most luxurious car one can buy. It has all the updated features that a state of the art tech car should have.
