Daihatsu Sirion - A Subcompact Car

The Daihatsu Sirion is categorized as a subcompact car manufactured by the Daihatsu. It was first launched in 1998. The name Daihatsu Sirion has been used on the Japanese models for the export.


The Daihatsu Sirion is also known as the Daihatsu storia and famous as the first generation Daihatsu Sirion outside japan. It remained in production since 1998 till 2004. It replaced the Charade and was also sold as the Toyota duet. It was available in two petrol engines: a 1.0 litre 3-cylinder and a 1.3 litre 4-cylinder.these engines are very fuel efficient. These were offered with a 5-speed manual or a 4-speed automatic gearbox.  There were two rally models of the Sirion was offered: the Rally 2 and the Rally 4 based on a four-wheel drive model.


 These vehicles had a slightly enhanced engine output. There is an automatic version as well that is an F-Speed model. The name suggests it is related to Formula-1 style wheel. There was another model released too known as the Storia X4 was released in Japan.


2000 DAIHATSU SIRION

It was modified in 2000 with many changes to the front exterior of the car with the grille design as the most notable addition to the exterior design. The dashboard was also expansively restyled with modern use of luxury based look and storage space area. In 2001, there was an addition of the GTvi to the Daihatsu Sirion series. It was a sports based model. This model was also marketed as the Toyota Duet, one of the most powerful naturally aspirated motor.


2002 DAIHATSU SIRION

From 2002, a sequential transmission was also made available on the GTvi version for the Australian market. It had an electronic 4-speed automatic transmission. Its sequential mode was triggered with a dashboard switch and also with gear selection by the help of buttons on the steering wheel.
In 2001 the Daihatsu Sirion was redesigned with new bumper and front grille. It gave the car a sportier look with silver accents on the sides that were removed for some markets.


The dash and interior were again redesigned with adding more storage area and user-friendly controls along with high-quality interior materials. These newly designed models were exported to Australian and European markets under the name the Daihatsu Sirion 2002.


The Daihatsu Sirion was also sold with the name Daihatsu Boon. It was also a subcompact car. It was available as the Daihatsu boon and Toyota passo in the Japanese domestic market. It was equipped with a 1.0 L and 1.3 L engine. For Japanese Domestic Market, the car sold as Daihatsu Boon and Toyota Passo available with 1.0 L and 1.3 L engine.


DAIHATSU SIRION TURBO MODEL

 A turbo model with 4WD was marketed as the Boon X4. These vehicles were designed for the European market and therefore had extended exterior dimensions. The notable features included were enormous interior space, fuel economy and various safety features. The back seats were folded down too for increasing luggage area. It received 4 out of 5 by the European New Car Assessment Programme. It was remodified and was exported to the European markets in 2007.
The Daihatsu Sirion was demanded on the basis of its reliability and safety features. The other significant reason behind its demand was the reasonable Daihatsu Sirion prices.
