The Chevrolet spark is a categorized as a city car. It has been offered in a hatch back body style only. It used to be produced under the brand of Daewoo Motors and was known as Daewoo Matiz while the new generations are known as the Chevrolet spark and is produced under the brand of Chevrolet. It came to be advertised under Chevrolet brand after the General Motors Company seized control over the Daewoo Motors in 2002. The first generation was introduced in 1997, second generation in 2005 and the third generation was introduced in 2010. The Chevrolet spark EV, an all electric motor was introduced in the united states in Oregon and California.


FIRST GENERATION OF CHEVROLET SPARK

The first generation of Daewoo Matiz initiated with its manufacturing in 1997 and was promoted as M100 in European markets. It was available with a 0.8-litre gasoline engine with a multipoint injection fuel system. The engine of the car was designed by the Tico unit by Tickford in England. It was made available in three models such as E, S and SE. The SE model was available with a stereo, fog lights, wheel covers, rear spoiler and air conditioning as standard features and power steering, electric front windows, central locking, roof rails and ABS and driver airbag were the optional features. In some markets the option of an automatic transmission was also available.


SECOND GENERATION OF CHEVROLET SPARK

In 2005, the Maritz was restyled and modified and was released as the Chevrolet M3X concept car at 2004 Paris Motor Show. It was equipped with the updated S-Tec engines and became more fuel efficient. The interior had major modifications along with the changes to the platform.
The centre-mounted instrument cluster became the most noticeable feature of the modified interior design. In European region it was known as Chevrolet Spark and Chevrolet Matiz. In Italy the LPG model was known as Chevrolet Matiz Eco Logic. In South Korea, it was known as Matiz Classic. The 2011 model produced by Vietnam was known as the Chevrolet Spark Lite.


In India, there were two editions produced of this generation. The Chevrolet Spark LPG. It was a model fitted with an LPG kit and was released on the World Environment Day in New Delhi and other one was introduced in 2009 as the Chevrolet Spark Muzic.


THE THIRD GENERATION OF CHEVROLET SPARK

The third generation of Matiz was released as M300 in 2009. Its design was based on the Chevrolet Beat concept car of 2007 model. It was also advertised as the Daewoo Matiz Creative. The Chevrolet Beat was released in 2007 at the New York International Auto Show.  Its design was based on the Daewoo Kalos and was available as a three-door hatchback with front drive. It was powered by a 1.2 L turbocharged gasoline engine.


SPARK EV

The Spark EV is general motors’ first all-electric passenger car advertised in the United States. It is available with nanophosphate lithium-ion battery pack.
In North America the Chevrolet spark is offered in three different models 1LS, 1LT, and 2LT. apart from these models the EV model is also available. 1LS is offered with four-passenger seating, air conditioning, 6-speed manual transmission and sixteen-inch alloy wheels along with various entertainment features. 1LT   is offered with more secured safety measures and entertainment features such as SIRIUS-XM Satellite Radio, Bluetooth Stereo Streaming and app capabilities, six speakers, USB and auxiliary audio input jacks and A/M-F/M touch-screen MyLink stereo. 2LT offers 6-speed automatic transmission, alloy wheels and leather seats and power drivers seat.


The specifications of the EV model are based more on the 2LT model such as an electric motor and CVT transmission and unique designed alloy wheels.
