Chevrolet Silverado - A Combination of Power, Beauty And Elegance

The pickups of the lower weight classes, mentioned in North America and other countries trucks, rolled off the belt in most markets under the name Chevrolet C / K until the 1990s. At the end of the 1990s, GM redesigned Chevrolets brand-new truck program on the modern world markets.

The Silverado Introduction

The design of the vehicles with the open load area in the future oriented more on the bodies of the full-size SUV. And also with the interior equipment, the pickups no longer follow the comfort-oriented off -road vehicles.

In line with the concept of the upgraded series, the Americans introduced a new classification for the models, which were now available as Chevrolet Silverado, with the introduction of the new pickup generation in 1999. The Silverado produced with rear wheel and all-wheel drive as well as with different cab designs, were the flagship of the GM trucks.

First Generation of Silverado

The first generation of the Silverado pickup ran from 1998 to 2007 in three different body shapes in GM plants in the USA and Mexico. The Chevrolet Silverado, which was introduced for the 1999 model year, was produced during this phase in different wheelbases ranging from almost three meters to a mere 3.65 meters on the largest model, which reached a total length of more than 6.20 meters.

Measurement and Body Type

Depending on the size of the cab, a loading area of ??1.76 meters, two meters or 2.48 meters was available in the Silverado Pickup. In addition to the standard version with singlecab and two doors, the manufacturer brought the Chevrolet Silverado as a four-door vehicle with extended cabin or crew cabon the market. These models were also available in a heavy-duty variant of commercial vehicles, which supplemented the program under the names Silverado 2500 or 3500.

The Chevrolet Silverado Upgrade

With the model year 2007, the Silverado Pickup came into the market in an optically upgraded SUV style. In this construction phase, GM manufactured the truck only in two wheelbases at just under 3 meters and around 3.65 meters in length, before the introduction of the third generation of the Chevrolet Silverado in 2014 again two other options with up to 3.89 meters wheelbase were available.

Sport Models And Hybrid Drive

In addition to the standard engines with six and eight cylinders, the manufacturer also introduced sports models to the range, which were equipped with high-performance V8 engines as Chevrolet Silverado Supersport (SS). Since 2004, there has also been a hybrid version of the Silverado pickup, which rounded off the engine range with an output of up to 248 kW (337 hp) until the generation change 2013.
