The BMW Z3 is known as the first roadster produced by the German automaker BMW. It was launched in 1995 with a video by the BMW based in North America. Latter it was promoted by its appearance in Golden Eye; a James bond movie and eventually the sales went so high. A coupe version was also released in 1999.
MODIFICATION AND DEVELOPMENTS
The German tuning companies have fitted V8 engines into the Z3. Latter in 2001, the vehicle was upgraded with engines such as 2.5 LM54B25, 3.0 L M54B30 and 3.2 L S54B32. In the 1997 modification of the vehicle traction control was made available as an optional feature. The 1997 BMW Z3 became a collectable vehicle for its historical value and elegant looks.
In 1998 a very good performance M roadster was released that did not have traction control. There were many features incorporated into the vehicle as optional features such as bolstered sport seats, roll bars and Wood trim. In 1999 model had side airbags as standard features. Not only a 2.5-liter inline six was introduced in it but also upgrade from the Single VANOS to Dual VANOS. The 2000 year model had the same interior and exterior except for the chrome headlight rings. The Harman Kardon audio also got updated. In 2001 model a low-tire-pressure warning system was included. The 2002 model year BMW Z3 was offered with an In-dash CD player as a standard feature.
THE BMW Z4
The BMW Z4 is categorized as a rear-wheel drive sports car. The BMW Z4 replaced the Z3 when the first generation was released in 2002. Soon after its release it received the "Design of the Year Award". As a hardtop roadster it was produced at the BMWs Regensburg, Germany plant.
THE FIRST GENERATION BMW Z4
The codenames for the first generation BMW 4 roadster is E85 while the codename for the coupe is E86. The generation was designed by a danish, Anders Warming, a well known BMW designer.
The BMW Z4 with 2.5i gets 16-inch wheels while the 3.0i gets 17-inch wheels with Leather upholstery as standard feature and as an optional feature on the 2.5i. A Sport suspension was offered on the optional Sport Package. To make the throttle action faster a Dynamic Driving Control console button was included. It also aided in reducing power-steering assist. Xenon headlamps were offered as an optional on both models and the removable hardtop was opted by the customer that was attainable from the dealer.
In 2005 it was made available with optional features such as Optional heated seats, BMW Assist emergency and Optional navigation system. The 2006 BMW Z4 was released with more stylish design, powerful engines. a hatchback coupe was also released. Latter a new model labeled as Z4 M was also released by the BMW in both roadster and coupe body styles.
THE SECOND GENERATION BMW Z4
The second generation of BMW Z4 was released in 2008. It was displayed in Detroit at the North American International Auto Show. It was categorized as a coupé-convertible. It had a folding hardtop. It was relaunched in 2011 with slight changes such as 4-cylinder power plant with twin-scroll turbo.
