Overview

Toyota Alphard and Nissan Elgrand are among the top MPV in the market. These luxurious vans offer more than just carrier services. It is no surprising when they are being compared. The Alphard dominated the van segment for a while and owned a large part of the Malaysian market share until the inception of the Nissan Elgrand. The Nissan Elgrand not only gives the Alphard a run for its money but it also matches it in terms of design. Nissan Elgrand vs Toyota Alphard has long been a battle for almost a decade now.

 

The Nissan Elgrand is an extravagant van launched by Nissan; it was introduced in 1997 while the Alphard is manufactured by the Japanese automaker, the Toyota Company since 2002. Nissan Elgrand is available in seven and eight passenger variants, with a rear or all wheel drive. Similarly, the Alphard is available as a seven or eight seater.  Nissan Elgrand comes in various model including the the E50, the E51 and the E52. On the other hand, Toyota Alphard is available in three model lines. These are Alphard G, Alphard V, and the Alphard Hybrid.

 

Exterior Design

Nissan Elgrand has a fresh appearance with its sporty look. The tough front grille and the rounded curves complement its unique design of a van. It has two-stage headlights, darkened windows that are enclosed from the side to the rear.  The Elgrand’s sleek body with rear combination of lamps and horizontal and vertical lines is low and wide. This helps to improve its stability. Moreover, it has twin sunroofs, chrome coated alloy wheels that are polished with aluminum, twin sliding doors and a remote controlled back door.

 

On the other hand, Toyota Alphard has premium designed front and rear bumpers.  It also has discharge headlamps with tinted-glass extensions for impressive illumination. In addition, it has cladding panels, rear combination lamps that are large and a polished tailpipe. As for its movement on the road, it has 17-inch wheels for an enhanced sturdy and intrepid look.

 

Interior Styling

Both the Nissan Elgrand and Toyota Alphard have an interior that would challenge the comfort of a luxurious hotel. The Elgrand has comfort seats equipped with heaters. The heaters offer point-accurate heating to various parts of the body of a seating passenger or driver, with modes adjustable to every situation. Moreover, the driver’s seat has a slide and tilt adjustment. The seat has eight variations to it that provide excellent comfort and drive time. The Elgrand’s highly functional instrument panel is wrapped with a gradient wood tone panel that gives the interior a luxurious touch.

 

The Toyota Alphard has a majestic and lavish interior cabin that boasts of the latest technological innovations. This ultimate comfort zone has luxurious leather seating, wood grain paneling, ample leg and headroom. The cabin is spacious and the seats can be folded down to form bed. The center row seats slides backwards, forwards and spins, giving the rear passengers space to face each other. Lastly, the last row seats are adjustable back and forth, or can be folded out of the way to increase the amount of luggage space available.

 

Engine Performance

Both these classy SUV have incredible specs and performance levels. The Toyota Alphard has 2.4 liter and 3.5 liters engine types that use gasoline. The engine produces a power of 6000rpm and a maximum torque of 4000rpm. On the other hand, the Elgrand’s VQ35DE 3.5-liter gasoline engine generates power of 6,400 rpm and a maximum torque of 4,400 rpm.
