Citroen Cars- The Bon with Style Vehicle

The Citroen has the reputation of offering comfortable good (French: Bon) cars for approximately a century. The popular car list includes citroen c4, citroen ds3, citroen c5 and citroen ds5. It is basically a French automobile manufacturer founded in 1919. Initially it was involved in making armament in First World War. Though after war it had planned to launch an automobile company that could offer quality option in least price, the same philosophy Ford Motors were planning to execute.

The Citroen cars have a reputation hard to replicate. It acquired fourth position in the global automobile market with the background as follows:

The Design

The founder of the company Andre Citroen hired engineer Louis Dufresne to design the 18 HP Citroen. A year later Jules Salomon was hired to design 10 HP vehicle that was more robust and less priced. Being a hard core marketing geek, the company advertisement got position in the book of world records for advertising on Eiffel Tower the tallest building of that time. Thus it best indicated that creative blood was flowing in the company, giving the different models an unprecedented edge.

The Take Over

The future looked so much promising that General Motors tried to acquire it in 1919 with brief negotiation. Later General Motors realized that the deal was a bit expensive and went away without closing it. Citroen Company worked as an independent facility till 1935. The end of 1934 brought in bad news of bankruptcy for Citroen. It is believed that Traction Avant production brought in the realization that the overly ambitious spirit with cost being maximized was the reason of financial collapse of the company. The greatest creditor Michelin Company became the principal shareholder. The Pierre Jules Boulanger became the new vice president and the design engineering department came under his leadership.

The Growth

The financial betterment started under the new management with secret research for Citroen automobiles. It was the era of World War II, that the right strategies worked wonder. The 2CV and DS were introduced as a fruit to this continuous improvement strategy with capitalization lowering, hence the decision to use modest four cylinder design brought in a justifiable cost alternative.

Later years the negotiation with Peugeot on the raw material and equipment happened, with acquisition of Panhard. Later the Citroen purchased Italian Maserati that lead to Grand Tourer SM launch. The persistence and hard work paid off resulting in the cars of today that have market in used vehicle industry as well.

The Logic Behind Logo

Whether it is sedan or any other Citroen for sale, we see two reverse arrows. The innovative design came to the founder Ande Citroen on his trip to Poland. He discovered that chevron shaped gear is used in milling and bought patent right to carve it on steel. The second reverse arrow was added because mechanically in single one, an axial force was produced. In 2009, the brand identity was revamped with the launch of a 3D variation.

The research shows that continuous endeavor and out of the box thinking makes Citroen car stand.
