Suzuki Motor Co. Ltd., is one of the big four automobile manufacturer based in Japan. Mr. Michio Suzuki founded the company in 1909 with it's headquarter in Hamamatsu, Shizuoka, Japan. Suzuki is now operating with 35 production facilities in 23 countries. Suzuki is well known for manufacturing small cars, trucks and motorcycles. In 1955, Suzuki produced its first front wheel drive light weight car which was named Suzuki Suzulight which was a 2-stroke, 360cc petrol car. Suzuki used cars are durable, reliable and economical.

In 1981, Suzuki entered into partnership with Maruti Udyog Ltd to produce cars in India which resulted for the formation of Maruti Suzuki in India. The first 1.0 liter passenger car, Suzuki Cultus/Swift was produced in India which earned good name and reputation not only in the Japanese used cars industry but around the globe.

After the incorporation of the company, it got listed in Bombay Stock Exchange and the National Stock Exchange of India. Maruti Suzuki is in ownership of Suzuki by 54% and the rest is owned by the general public and financial institutions. Maruti 800 was launched being the first production car of Maruti Suzuki. Following the launch of Maruti 800, Maruti Suzuki launched the minivan, Maruti Omni in 1984, Maruti Gypsy, then Maruti 1000 and Maruti Esteem and premium sedan car, Maruti Kizashi and the SUV, Maruti Grand Vitara.

In 1983, Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company Limited came into existence as a result of a Joint venture between Suzuki Motor Corporation and Pakistan Automobile Corporation. Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company was inaugurated by Prime Minister of Pakistan and came into operation in 1992 with the production capacity of over 50,000 vehicles in a year.

1973 Suzuki Canada Inc. was formed in Ontario. And America Suzuki Motor Corp. was established in 1986 in United States of America which lead to produce Cultus Swift in Colombia just a year after with the successful exports of over 2 million units. Suzuki made a profit of 45.17 billion JPY in 2011 from the revenue of 2.608 trillion JPY operating from the asset worth 2.224 trillion JPY and 52,731 employees.
