Audi Aktiengesellschaft is the manufacturing company of motorcycles and automobiles based in Germany and headquartered in Ingolstadt, Germany. It is a multinational company with 7 production industries in 6 major countries. The company was founded by August Horch in July, 1909. The Audi name is derived from the Latin translation of the founder’s surname” Horch” which means “listen”.

Basically the company was formed as a merger of 4 car companies which were branded together to form the Audi AG. The company logo represents the history of merger of the company. Audi carries the slogan, “Advancement through Technology” which is now reformed for USA as “Truth of Engineering”.

Later, Audi was bought by the group Volkswagen Aktiengesellschaft through acquisition of sharing capital of approximately 99.5%. From then, the company focused on sporty values with product and performance vehicles to maintain to prestige of the Audi company brand.

During 90's, Audi introduced an ever new technique to build car with aluminum metal frames. This led to the evolution of famous quality range such as Audi A4, A3 hatchback, Auti TT coupe and roadster. The engines used in the range were four cylinders (1.4 L, 1.6 L and 1.8 L), four cylinders turbo (2.6 L, 2.8 L V6), a 2.2 Liter Turbo charged five cylinders and a 4.2 Liter V8 Engines. Audi cars are one of the most amplifying products in the automobile industry; most of the Audi competitors cannot even beat the performance of used Audi Cars.

By the beginning of 21st Century, Audi sales remarkably increased from 653,000 to 1,003,000 an year. This increase was achieved from Middle East (58.5% increase), Eastern Europe (increase of 19.3%) and Africa (17.2% increase). Particularly China proved to be the key market as almost 15% of the total production was delivered in China in year 2009. As Chinese government officials were responsible for 20% of the total sales in China. During 2009 when other Volkswagen group, Bentley and Seat suffered from considerable losses, Audi made its high contribution to make operating profit of 1.5 billion Euros to the parent company.

Audi proved to be a strong partner of different sports as in football, sponsored domestic clubs as FC Bayern Munich, FC Numerberg, Borussia Monchenglabach and Hamburger SV and international clubs includes Chelsea FC, FC Barcelona, Real Madrid, AC Millan, Perspolis FC and Ajax Amsterdam. Other sports as German Ski Association and other skiing teams of Sweden, France, Switzerland, Finland, Italy, Austria, Liechtenstein, US and Italy. Audi for some time also sponsored the New York Yankies baseball team and England Polo team.
